THANKS TO YOUR COMMUNITY of teachers and fellow students’ volunteer efforts, on April 29, 2013 (CDC OPEN HOUSE on Unesco International Dance Day), almost $800 was raised toward the continuing education through the Canadian Dancesport Federation (CDF) for our dance community! After successful, free teacher training seminar this summer, the CDC has decided to allocate remaining funds for 6 MEDAL PREPARATION 60-MINUTE GROUPS with Tanya Cardinal, FREE & OPEN to all students & teachers who become CDC members, whether enrolled in group classes or taking private tuition with any CDC instructor. *REMEMBER: MEMBERSHIP to the CDC IS FREE & OPTIONAL, PAPERLESS & CARDLESS and available online https://www.thecontinentaldanceclub.com/membership or at the Continental Dance Club. FOR YOUR CONVENIENCE YOU MAY FILL IN A MEMBERSHIP APPLICATION BEFORE ANY OF THE FREE CLASS DATES/TIMES! Dances covered will be similar to those covered in Monday & Wednesday night classes, restricted however, to a newcomer/beginner level in International Standard & Latin. Participants will learn easy-to-remember step sequences, are encouraged and have permission to film and photograph. Participants will receive a handout with the step patterns taught.
PLEASE NOTE: STUDENTS WILL NOT RECEIVE A MEDAL ON THE BASIS OF THEIR PARTICIPATION IN THESE 6 FREE CLASSES ONLY & ARE ENCOURAGED TO SUPPLEMENT WITH PRACTICE TIME & CONSULTATION WITH ADDITIONAL LESSON TIME WITH THEIR TEACHER(S)! TEACHERS MAY DANCE IN THE CLASSES & ON TESTING DATE WITH THEIR STUDENTS!
During the afternoon on December 14th, CDC DANCERS will have the opportunity to be acknowledged for their progress in 1 to 10 dances, be graded, receive a hand-written critique from CDF examiner Alan Armsby copied to teachers and students. Awards/certificates will be formally presented to students with their teachers in the evening session following dinner.
