The Continental Dance Club is pleased to welcome former National Ballet of Canada dancer Erin Richardson. During her eight years with the company, Erin performed in more than 30 ballets including several world premieres. She performed with the Suzanne Farrell Co. in Washington, DC, in the CBC production of Canada: A People’s History and Bravo TV’s The Firebird. Erin was born in Victoria, British Columbia and began her ballet training at the age of 4 with her mother Christine Richardson. When she was 13, Erin was accepted into the National Ballet School in Toronto. Later, she trained at the School of American Ballet in New York before turning professional. She credits the strong support of her family for getting her through her teen years so far from home. After leaving the National Ballet, Erin completed her training as a Registered Veterinary Technician and now works in a referral and emergency veterinary hospital in Oakville. She continues to keep one foot in the dance world and, this year, was a guest teacher and adjudicator for the Cecchetti Classical Ballet Awards in Burnaby, BC. Now, she is turning her talents to ballroom dancing under the tutelage of Brian Torner dance director at The Continental Dance Club.
