We begin the evening of Friday, April 27th with the opening party of the URBAN MATADOR photography exhibit, part of Toronto’s Scotiabank CONTACT Photography Festival. The exhibition, which runs until the end of May, features the photography of Angel Torres, with model/dancer/curator Brian Torner, Director of The Continental Dance Club.
“The Urban Matador series stands as a bold metaphor for the “dance of life,” like a “Paso Doble” frozen in time. Photographer Torres captures the essence of the artistic journey of dancer Torner. The subtle, sunlit Toronto backdrop offers a warm contrast to the bold, flowing cape of this passionate dancer. Torres captures the dancer’s courage and drive to defy all obstacles, manoeuvering through life’s adversity with powerful dynamism coupled with intent, focus, bravura, and authenticity.”

ANGEL TORRES— Photographer
“Crafting photographs means elegantly and creatively capturing fleeting moments in time and making the invisible visible.”
For the past 15 years Angel Torres has primarily been shooting for Toronto-based arts and business publications in his work, while always learning and exploring new techniques in portraiture, nature and urban landscapes.
Having worked as an entrepreneur and freelancer for a broad clientele, he has acquired great experience and a versatility for responding to varying perspectives and viewpoints. Angel is by nature a creative risk-taker, always hungry for new challenges and knowledge, most recently also including videography, all which truly push his limits and skills to new heights.
