For 6 YEARs Brian Torner, director spearheads production of annual showcase event: UNESCO International Dance Day events, including first 3 years 100% ticket income toward Canadian & international registered charities.

For three consecutive years Brian Torner as director of www.thecontinentaldanceclub.com and former TV HOST & COLOUR COMMENTATOR 2000-2003 of the Canadian hit series “Dancing At The Palais”, the namesake of which is Toronto, Ontario’s historic lakefront public venue: The Palais Royale aligned himself with The Palais Royale & Dancing Classrooms Canada.

Womens’ Television Network (now “W”) was the broadcasting network for “Dancing At The Palais”. Within two seasons, owing to engagement of Brian Torner, The Palais Royale & the JoinTheDance Canada Charity were introduced to two legendary ladies of dance: Miss World Canada 2013 Camille Munro & award-winning author of www.BallroomIcons.com Brigitt Mayer-Karakis.

Ms Mayer-Karakis was swiftly engaged in a volunteer executive position as Board Member for JTD Canada for a multiple year term of service, while Brian Torner & Camille Munroe continued to serve both the Palais Royale annual GRAND FINALS of The Colours of The RAINBOW and numerous volunteer engagements “on the field” at various GTA public and Catholic schools including the programme created by Pierre Dulaine.

2016 PROJECT:FACELIFT sees  Canadian PUBLIC ART competition shortlisted + WINNING ARTIST from Cologne, Germany www.AchimZeman.de manage to plan CONCORD ADEX inauguration ceremony with renovations & special dinner held at The Continental Dance Club recognizing the collaborations of Brian Torner with three ueber life-sized photo-based plotted stickers of collaborative partners of direcror Brian Torner with Camille Munro, Olga Foraponova-Wright & Brigitt Mayer-Karakis.

In 2017 Brian Torner  rekindled a competitive pro-am dance team with his first dance partner, Keren Brown.

In 2018 & 2019, The Continental Dance Club director re-introduced PHOTOGRAPHY to his life in a big way by sponsoring as HOST VENUE The Continental Dance Club for Urban Matador a CONTACT Photography Festival open solo exhibition, a biographical portrait series about the life of Brian Torner, dancer… and since summer 2017, when the actual images were captured by Angel Torres, photographer, the Matador theme has morphed into an impromptu music/dance/theatre persona jamming with musicians in Cuba to sailing the grachten of Old Amsterdam with two Moroccan models to a gentler meditative matador suitable for the 2019 special collaboration with REIKI Healer and CHAKRADANCE Facilitator Pollyanna Blanco which took the form of once monthly Urban Retreat soul spas culminating in a special YEAR6 UNESCO IDD testimonial spot. In addition to the last two years mega-weekend community event mashups of CONTACT Photography Festival submission . & the annual UNESCO International Dance Day event, director Brian Torner with his creative teams added special features like HOW TO CAPE, KAFFEEKLATSCH FRIDAYS, FREE SHORT DANCE INTERLUDES including INSTRUCTION, a WOMENS AUTHORS INTERVIEW SERIES hosted by first dance partner Keren Brown of VOX Communications and MEET THE CURATOR/MEET THE PHOTOGRAPHER events and more…

 

The Urban Matador exhibition travelled to three cities within six months: Mississauga, Toronto and Duesseldorf, Germany for a special prestigious international  group exhibition at Galerie Bernd A Lausberg
